Spirit of the Carnival Cup

The Carnival team has awarded the Spirit of the Carnival Cup for 2023 to Graham Kent for donating his time and vehicle since 2019 for the road closures. This is a challenging role and holds great responsibility in ensuring the procession can run smoothly and safely.

Graham joins the illustrious names since 2014 when the cup was first awarded to the Scarrott family in memory of the work and commitment of the late George Scarrott.

  • In 2015 the cup was awarded to the Robins family, for their sterling work on carnival day every year.
  • In 2016 the cup was awarded to Dave Radway, who each year provides the trophies that given to the winners of the group classes.
  • In 2017 the cup was awarded to Chris Wannell, as a founder member of the carnival committee and for his on going long-term commitment to the carnival.
  • In 2018 the cup was awarded to Owen Collier our fantastic town crier for his support of the carnival.
  • In 2019 the cup was awarded to John Macindoe and the RWBTC grounds team for all they do every year in support of the town’s special day!
  • In 2022 the cup was awarded to Aldo Vata from The Angel for all his support and the donated use of the meeting room and ballroom for all of our meetings plus his additional donations including a hotel room with breakfast to one of our entertainers and allowed the use of the ballroom for another of our acts to get ready on Carnival Day.  He has been very generous to us over the years and anything we have asked of him, he has graciously given us.

Thanks again guys, the carnival and our community as a whole are lucky to have you!
