The Royal Wootton Bassett Carnival is a fantastic local tradition that takes place every year on the 3rd Saturday of May. In 2022, we celebrated our 50th anniversary and have continued to get bigger and better each year!
Please join us, and bring your family and friends. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with all of our news. Just send us a message if you have a question, or would like to take part or even volunteer with us.
On carnival day, the High Street and Borough Fields is packed with dancers, singers, bands, stilt walkers, face painters, balloon modellers, street magic and many more to entertain the local community for free. Donations are always appreciated as we are funded purely by donations!
Our main event is the Grand Procession which takes place this year on Saturday 18th May 2024 an leaves Marlowe Way at 4.30pm. We have paid professional acts such as Dolphin Marching Band, Britannia Majorettes, Flaming Feathers, Ministry of Samba, Silent Adventures and the OG’s. Other entrants are local schools, pre-schools, Cubs, Beavers, Brownies, Rainbows, pubs, businesses, care homes, clubs, charities, organisations and many more.
Entry is free and the winners of each class are awarded a trophy and prize money. Our theme for 2024 is 🌈 Rainbows 🌈 You can interpret this however you like and we can’t wait to see what you come up with. Let your imaginations run wild!
Additional parking is available on Carnival Day at the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy, Lime Kiln, SN4 7HG. Please note that the gates will be locked at 8pm.
